I have PIC Selects and I think they're extremely nice. I've had H&R's, Ksports, Neuspeeds, and Godspeeds in the past. I've ridden on multiple sets of Teins, Function and Forms and the Koni one piece combo.

My PIC's are a little heavier sprung than is recommended for the street, but the unit is still extremely well damped. High speed turns over some bumpy road still allows for great control. I've got the springs preloaded a bit also, which is what I wanted in terms of response.

In my opinion, Godspeeds are the worst I've ridden on...go figure. Ksports were not much better. My H&R's were a softer setup, but rode amazing (H22 Accord EX 4dr though, so I had some weight). Function and Forms aren't bad, though I felt they were a bit bouncy.

Probably my top choices would be PIC's, as I said I'm really impressed with them thus far. Tein SS's with the optional upper pillow mounts are SUPER refined feeling though. A little softer than my pics, but great performance still. I may give the Teins a slight edge in dampening and streetability, but they offer no pre-load like the PIC's. Both are good.

do yourself a favor and buy pic apexes for $750 or the better koni/gc combo for 799. why you would even consider FF with better choices for barely more money is beyond me. the biggest difference between the apex and select is the select being adjustable.

ive have had the pics apex for about 6 months now. i love the ride and how it performs. the only thing i would have to say is that i should have got stiffer rates. but all in all PICs is a great way to go and you wont regret getting it.

Not to nit pick (though on most days I do too much of that), but shocks damp (as a verb, it means to muffle or restrain), not dampen (to make wet).

Google searching would probably be better with "shock damping" than "shock dampening". Though, might want to try both as way too many people misuse dampen and dampening.

what rates did you get the 8k/6k?? stiffer would then be 10k/8k right?

true, try as many terms as possible. bound and rebound with the word shock also is worth doing. as far as rates go. some of it is personal preference and some of it is the tires you use. me, i like a slightly loose car so i would rather have 8k-6k on a sticky street tire. others who like a more firm feeling or ride lower than i do choose the 10k-8k. my own car is on 9k-8k with a nice rear sway bar and energy bushings in everything. it's a not bad combo, i just really need a set of kumho xs or star specs to see what it does at the next autocross. i think i'll order a set with those $89 12lb wheels from the tire rack.

In a hurry, I actually misspoke. I have the PIC Apex's, not the selects. Mine are not adjustable in terms of dampening. The thing that impressed me though, is that the valving is just dead on for the rates.

My setup is 10k(R) and 12k(F), which was considered stiff for the street. The valving is just perfect, and considering the rates, I think the street ride is very docile. The ride feels very refined and isn't harsh at all. In addition, I get no bottoming out, and road holding ability is great. The stiffness is apparent, and the only time I truly felt "annoyed" was on a highway that had a rhythmic bump series between the concrete pads in the road. My setup, like I said, is set up with pre-load so that I could maintain some shock stroke despite being very low. At the same time though, with very restricted droop it tends to follow road contour more closely, making the ride more rough in that rhythmic section.

That's truly PIC'ing (haha...pun intended) them apart though. Overall I'd give them a 9 out of 10 in terms of overall quality and my personal satisfaction so far.

I also want to say that from what I've seen over time, the majority of people that get dampening adjustable coilovers have literally no clue what to the do with the adjustability. They go by feel, play around a bit and I think sometime that hurts them. If your tracking the car, and will be truly doing "testing" to work out the maximum ability of the setup, go with selects, but if you want nice performance for street/track, just get the apex's. The PIC's appear to be very well balanced in the non adjustable version, so that's what I'd suggest.

Sidenote: Something I did want to add, that I think may require consideration is in reference to my spring rates. I have my setup on a delsol, which you may know is about 300-350 lbs heavier than a civic hatch. I think this could add to the subtle feel of the 10k/12k combo, but may be a tad excessive for a lighter car, so the 8k/10k might be better.

I am also looking at these for my next upgrade.

Does the damping feature that the select have make that much of a difference?

i love tires!!! haha. I really liked the dz101's they hugged really well. Especially up in the mountains on a stock suspension. I can imagine how they will hug with a nice coilover setup. Im stuck right now on what to get..ha
