New here and just had a question...I just got a 91 crx si and the speedometer doesn't work...the gas meter and rpm etc works just not the speedometer..what could the problem
be..

 

Have you checked to see if it has came unhooked from the tranny or unhooked from the back of the cluster? More than likely it's worked itself out of the transmission hole. There is usually a clip in there to help secure it down.

 

exactly...either its come loose or like when i had that problem my speed sensor was shott easy junkyard part to get

 

Yeah the actual gear inside the trans might be shot as well, but I haven't seen one do that before.

 

Are you getting a check engine light?
You SHOULD be.
VSS isn't working if your speedo cable is broke.
Might want to check/replace that check engine lamp when you get the cluster out to check the speedo.

there can be three possible reasons....gear in transmission which is of plastic may have broken.cable has broken or speedometer head in dash must have broken....check out any three

 

Much more likely that the circlip on the trans just came off and the cable popped loose.

 

Just fixed the speedometer today and found out the cable was broke in half the transmisson end was spinning but the one behind the speedometer wasnt so i replaced it and it works fine thanks for all the help
