Pansonic head unit removal
Recently a friend of mine decided to upgrade his sound system and gave his old stuff to me. I had a system in my last car and had it installed by a friend of mine who is currently away at school. Ive been talking to him and he has walked me through the whole wiring process to the amp and the speaker and how to run the wires through the car, but when it came time to remove my head unit I ran into trouble. I have never removed a head unit before and dont know where to start. The head unit is a Panasonic dp940. All I have to plug in is the wire from the amp to the head unit with the plugs (the input I believe) and a small blue wire my friend refered to as the REM. He was also not sure on where that wire should go without seeing it in person. Any help would be greatly appriciated with the removal of the head unit or the REM wire. This stupd head unit and 2 wires are holding me back from getting my system up and running and I dont want to have to pay best buy 100 bucks to figure it out for me. Thanks in advance.
If I knew what kind of car you were driving, I could help you. We can't help you without knowing everything you do. The actual HU removal process is different with every car as it requires the removal of a few dashboard parts. With knowing the make, model, and year of your car, we can't help you.
Ok. It appears that your car uses a mounting sleeve to hold the aftermarket HU. To remove the HU, you will need the removal straps that came with it. If you don't have them, it's quite possible that your friend at school has them. Either way that's how it's done. The exact process that was used to install it is a little complicated to explain but I can give you a link here:

This is a PDF that you should be able to print and will show you what I'm talking about.
