Please Help... B16a losing oil pressure at vtec crossover...
I have a 94 EJ coupe, B16a w/ USDM GSR vtec solenoid.
It started when a few weeks ago, my car sat for like 2 weeks. I jumped in it after work headed home. After about 12 miles into my commute I got in the hammer lane to pass an 18 wheeler. No VTEC... I promtly got back behind the 18 wheeler... after all it is a B16...
No check codes, I didn't understand. I checked obvious options like vtec solenoid which was good. anyhow narrowed it down that it may be oil pressure.
The next day i installed a mechanical oil pressure gauge. Readings are 12psi at 1k rpm, 60 psi at 3k and 80 ish psi right before vtec crossover. At vtec crossover i have about 40psi. I replaced the oil pump and pick up gasket. same readings with new OEM honda pump.
I was told two different scenarios... Thrust washers are bad, Main bearings are bad...
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
