head swap hose question
i dont have a camera to post a pic, so ill do my best. i finally got my mini me running, its a z6 head on a d15b1 block. the black box on the back of the block (something for oil temp mybe?) has a hose coming out that isnt connected to anything. i also have a hose coming down from the bottom of the intake manifold between injectors 1 and 2. is this supposed to be one hose leading from the black box to the bottom of the mainfold?
my car is surging pretty bad, probably fom 900rpm to 1900rpm. i have no tach yet so im playing this by ear. is this surge due to these two hoses not leading anywhere? i may have read something a while back saying its an oil temp return or something like that.
i have a good idea on a few different reasons its surging bad:
*not enough coolant (only had half a jug on hand)
*air in the coolant route
*iac valve may be dirty or bad
*o2 sensor dirty or bad
i just wanted to know as many ideas as you guys can come up with so when i get the time to play with the car i can troubleshoot eveything at one time.
the only code i have is o2. the biggest problem im having right now is the hoses though.. can i block them off.. or where do they run to?
thank you all for the help

not enough coolant and having air in the system will certainly cause a surging idle, and a dirty iacv will do the same.
the hose off the center of the intake goes to a pcv valve thats mounted between one of the intake runners. from there it drops down to that black box. the box is for crankcase ventilation. if you leave that port open on the intake mani it will definitely cause your idle to get crazy.

cool cool.. i just ran the vent hose from the mani to the box. still surges. i needa get some coolant but im kinda stuck around the house with no running vehicle right now.
when i start my car i have to feather the gas a bit to get it to start.. any idea why? maybe i have a little bit of bad gas still in the tank, fuel pump and lines.
when i start my car, it surges bad, like i said maybe 900rpm to 1900rpm.. but when i pull the plug from the iac valve the rpms drop to about 900 and it surges just a little.. maybe from 900rpm to 1100rpm. is this a good way to tell if the iac is bad? it makes me want to run it with the plug out.. it seems to run way better with the plug off.
