heeelp dc2 with fully built k20 or built lsv turbo
so im stuck in a situation i just got paid from my sti getting hit by some old guy who ran a stop sign so now i wanna build another honda because where in the craziest recission ever and it look like where not coming out of this no time soon to sum it up i already have a 94 dc2 ls, i done did some research on doing a lsv turbo but kind of weary about it, but im bored at work and found a topic hasport posted a how to: swap a k in a ek hatch it dont look that hard as a thought but want to know what do you guys think it will cost to build a (450-650whp) daily driver teg, to how much will it cost to do k swap in a ek hatch. quote i can do most of the labor myself aside from the wiring so mostly we talkin parts wise please i wanted get started with then a week so real answers will help
Good luck having 450-600whp and keeping it reliable with a Honda. If reliable is #1 and you have to have a turbo, go k20. Those motors can take a beating. I know a guy who has a k20 turbo stock motor stock intake mani and he's putting down 525whp at 20psi. 20psi on a stock B Series would blow with a quickness. So if you have the money, go K20.
You want baller - K-series turbo.
You want cheap baller(compared to K) - B-series turbo.
Yes the K may put down more power with the same kit on the same boost levels than the B but both will put down great numbers and you'll be happy with either choice.
He said daily driver, so I'd take the K all day long. Getting 450whp on low boost is a reality with the K20. You need high boost to hit 450 on any B Series motor.
So you want 650whp for a daily driver? Do you plan on tooling around town in wrinkle-walls or what?
The k-swap will be more expensive, or weaker per dollar invested. It will also take more time. THe b-swap will be much cheaper, bolts right in, very reliable if done right, and still make lots of power. Not only that, but the b-series trans tend to hold up to abuse better. You could do a sleeved/cammed 2.0L lsv and make similar numbers as a k20 for less. The $500 you'll save on the ems alone will buy a lot.
BTW a stock k20 head isn't that much more amazing than a b16 head. Boost levels are deceiving, since people usually slap a big S362/etc on k20's, while people with b's tend to be realistic and use a turbo that has more than a 1000rpm powerband - at least for a daily driver. Peak numbers don't tell much of the story.
There are actually a handful of stock b16 heads that have been used to make 500+.

DAM my dudes some of you guys should really consider selling your opinions because hiprofile hit it right on the nail and when i said i wanted 650whp daily driven i meant to say 450whp on 93 and 650whp on c16 from what it look like it will cost me 5k more to do the k swap which is extremely high and a big differance in price.

so is driving around in a 475whp sti dumb because i did it for 2yrs, or is driving around in a 432whp ek turbo dumb because my best friend do it everyday for the past year. when you decide to tell some1 that something is dumb please have some facts behind it and a explanation why because just last week alone i seen 3 different threads where ppl built high hp cars and driving them everyday, i don't know where your from but where im from there's tons of imports with more than 400whp, and pacifically hondas i know 6 ppl that have high hp tegs, hatchies, coupes so please quit it with the bull honda-tech need to do pre screening like this was the tsa bcuz it seem like when ask a question you get some true honest answers than u get guys who tried to build a high hp car with a ebay turbo kit then they car blow up and say its stupid building a high hp daily driven car..looooooooool
Driving around in a 475whp STI is more practical than a 475 FWD integra. AWD>FWD
You can use that, without spinning wheels too bad, and tearing up tires. FWD hondas cant.
i say go with the B.

B or k it doesn't matter. If the motor is on boost it's going to be fun to drive. Now 450whp daily driven at 450whp in my opinion your not going to be able to really get on it because you'll be spinning every gear.
