Default 96 accord running hot

I changed the head gasket, belts and water pump recently and now the engine is running rather hot. to the point where it boils off the coolant and blows the steam out of the expansion tank. I have 1 fan that does not run at all but I wouldn't think that with the lose of 1 fan that the car would get this hot. Have a friend who has the same car and runs without 1 fan and it does fine. I changed the thermostat thinking it wasn't opening and letting the coolant flow but after I did that it still runs just as hot. Anyone got any ideas on what else I should check. I did check the deck of the Head and the block and both were within tolerable ranges. it's the F22 engine. Thanks in advance

yes seriously.... I don't think the loss of a fan can make it run hot enough to boil off the coolant. The fan is going to be fixed that's a big "duh" but I was looking for a good answer. maybe someone else has one....

I had a similar problem with my car, one fan would not kick in and it was running hot, I though the fan was shot but it was so down on coolant that it wouldn't kick in? top up your coolant... just my two cents but thats what happened to me.

goodluck

maybe your car is running on lean fuel the car gets hot when it's running like that its a way to save gas but makes the motor hotter

The system may be air-bound (you've got a trapped bubble).
On reluctant examples I raise the nose of the car and purge thru the radiator, that way I know i've gotten all the air out.

It's funny that you suggest my recommendation to fix the fan is not a good answer. My personal vehicle almost reached H before I realized it and pulled over. ( 94 Accord ). I only knew there was a problem because the vehicle was losing power. I fixed the problem by replacing my malfunctioning radiator fan. Maybe you should deal with the obvious problem first before continuing to guess.
