whistling noise of some sort when i drive.
Coming from one of teh wheels. like something isnt put on right or something is touchin/rubbing. mostlikely a brake problem? any ideas or happened to you before and what the results are? thanks
nope. i checked them. you know those little peices that hold the pads in place? one on top and bottom. one on top broke, its in 2 peices but its still put on. you think that may be the problem?
also, driver side front bracket, the sliders for it are jammed in, so it was a ghetto put on when i put new rotors and pads in. maybe a problem too?

well who knows? replacing a broken part is never a bad idea, though, right?
if one of your calipers is seized up or frozen in place, your car will pull one way or the other when you brake.

it doesnt pull. brakes fine also. it just makes noise when im driving. when i go slow it makes a slow whistling noise and when im speedin up, it speeds up the noise.
Well, I was right about the brake thing. the sliders being jammed in wont affect or make noise. whats making noise is the metal peice that hold the pad. one on top and one on bottom. the pads rest on it to keep it at a good fitment in between the rotor. anyone know where the sell those peices at? cuz the bottom one is in 2 peices and it touches the rotor and makes the whistling noise. i just dont know what theyre called or where they sell.

did you check the sensors on the brake pads itself.. usually you hear them when the brakes are wearing down but the may have been bent during installation it may be slighly touching the rotor (inside usually)...?
i'm currently having the same problem, i used all kinds of brake cleaner and checked the pads.. they are fine.. So, i did some searching!

Now, this thread seems to lean towards the CV joint or bearings being the issue.. i'm not too sure if this is the end all solution because its such a vague problem to begin with.. but it makes sense that your constant velocity joint, which translates the power from your transmission to your wheels at an angle could be the problem and cause a squeal while in motion.

As I said, this could very well not be the end all solution but it's a jumping off point for suggestions from the Guru's here at H-T. I would also like to hear their inputs as well

if it's your bearings, they should only whirl when you are turning, or it will become pronounced when you are turning.
bad axles sometimes click or grind. i remember seeing a youtube video with a bad axle sound sometime last year. try searching there a few times.

If this problem is anything like mine, the "whistling" or "squealing" noise happens while going at a steady speed under.. i'd say 25-30 mph without turning.. but just going straight or driving casually. If the gas or brake is depressed hard, then the sound will go away then reappear once the depression is released.
Could this be more the problem of the CV joint?

Ok, I fixed the hardware/retainers, put a new one in. Also i was driving today, when i hear the noise, i apply brake and noise goes away. so its coming from one of the brakes. I put 2 new front rotors and pads all around a few months ago. so something is rubbin on rotor or somethin right? cuz like i said, when i apply brake, noise goes away completely (any brake usage)
