Need info!! engine torque damper
Hey guys... I have been trying to find which engine torque damper i need if i have a 98 civic hatchback with b18c motor. I know spoon make some but to expensive. is there any other damper i can get? part number?
NRG makes one for like 80 to 120 bucks but they tend to fall apart after a while. so if you want a temporary one. there you go. mine broke after probably 6 months and only using the 2 upper motor mounts. the lower oneshredded on me.
Ingalls also makes one. I have one on my car and it made a noticeable difference. It is very well-made, and I've had mine on for several months with no issues at all. They are also priced between around 80-120 depending on where you go.
Would stiffer mounts act the same? Even with the little D16Y8 if you punch it you can see the engine rock and since my bushings are probally bad on the shifter you feel it push the shifter back.
I have poly mounts on my car and they do help. The ETD made it even stiffer and there is almost no engine movement now because of it.
If your mounts are bad the damper isn't going to fix that, though.

Your motor mounts are shot causing your shifter to move backwards. If you think yours is bad, my brothers boosted EF has ALL shot mounts and when you step on the gas, the shifter moves literally 3".
Whats with all this talk over $50+ mounts? Just get ES suspension motor mount inserts and throw them on, or fill up your OEM ones with window weld.
I used the ES and I LOVE THEM!!!!

Save up for the spoon in the end I think you will be much happier. You're getting the quality part you want and you can brag about it. Saving up a little longer for quality will be better in the long run. Spoon ftw!
Actually the damper would help because it is basically an extra engine mount besides I was runnin on only my two upper mounts and the damper helped significantly.
The Ingalls unit for DC2 will work for EG if you have a B-series swap. I don't think they make one just for EG, or one for D-series.
spoon hands down is the best investment for a torque damper. seen it and felt the difference on a s2k.not an ek but im sure its the same. save up man
