wastegate source after or before TB debate
Ive read up on this and like many other issues there are split decisions as so what is the way to go.
I have a TIAL WG and i have been reading they recommend the vacuum source before the TB so it only sees boost and no vacuum. Others say just run it the the vacuum manifold which is hooked up to the intake manifold which sees vac/boost.
So has anyone seen a torn or damaged Wastegate as a result of seeing vacuum? i can play it safe and just get one of these quick tap nipples but if it really does not matter for the sake of keeping all the vacuum lines neat and clean id like to use the manifold.

You can run the pressure source to either the intake manifold or to the turbo. Yes tial recomends you dnt hook it up to a vacuum source only a pressure source but they work just fine that way.
Generally you will get a little less boost than your WG spring is rated at if you put the pressure course on the turbo. reason being is the intercooler (if you have a good one) will cause a little back pressure so less pressure comes out of it than going in IE if you have 9 psi going in you might only get 7.5psi out and thats teh amount of boost pressure your engine will see.
Now if you connect it to the intake manifold then you will see the full 9 psi of pressure because the WG isnt openign up till the manifold sees 9 psi and not the turbo seeing 9 psi. IE if your seeing 9 psi at the engine then your turbo is producing about 10.5-11 psi pre-intercooler

for the sake of consistency, and it is the way i have been doing it since 95 when working on the buicks, i source the boost reference off of the compressor housing.
explained above is perfect.
but in my personal exp, i think it is more consistent when you are getting the pressure from the source.

I agree with you, but you have to wonder why so many others use the other source and don't have problems. On my bike i get the source right from the plenum which is before the TB.

If you are worried about it install a check valve, then it will not see vacuum at the waste gate.

not so much worried about it just want to do it correctly and if vacuum really damages then Tial WG then ill either run the check valve or find a way to get the source right off the compressor
On another note the bottom barb on a Tial WG is that 1/4 opening for the vacuum hose?
trying to get all the other parts and small things like this ready so i don't have to make any more trips to a store. HKS Bov is 1/8th for anyone else wondering. and the Autometer electronic Sensor is 3/16
