Default How many quarts for transmission

I'm finishing up my swap right now and I'm about to head up to advanced for the last few things, crush washers and such.

After that I am headed to honda to pick up transmission oil, and for the life of me I can't remember how many quarts to pick up. I looked it up in the haynes manual and it was so helpful (sarcasm) it just said fill it to it pours out.

How many quarts will I need to make it pour out? I want to say I think 3 but I don't want to buy 3 and make a seperate trip later cause I needed 5.

I think the exact number is 1.8 or 1.9qts, but I have always just used 2 quarts filled through the VSS hole.

You know to use 10w30, right?

Thanks bro.

And while I know you CAN use 10w30 because that's what I used last time, I also know that "honda" suggests using "honda" transmission oil. And while it may or may not make a difference, I used 10W30ast time and the synchros started slipping so I got a new tranny also. So this time I'm going to use honda fluid, even if it's just for peace of mind.

Thanks again. Off to the store!

Yeah, I think you'll be good with 2.. And what the haynes manual meant by "till it pours out", Theres something that looks like an "oil drain plug" on the side of the tranny.. Take of the bolt, and pour the oil where the speed sensor is at. Once it starts coming out of the "drain hole", that should be enough.
