You have coilover sleeves so now you just need a 2 sets of shocks. The coilover sleeve acts just like your OEM springs all they need is shocks. You can actually run them with your stock shocks but its not reccomended get some KYB shocks or GC shocks. Goodluck keep us posted

Your terminology is wrong. A strut consists of a spring and a shock together.

A spring compressor is recommended, but get one this style, though it may need slightly modified.

This would probably also work.

Just don't get one that you have to stick inside the spring like one of the geniuses I know tried getting.

alot of the times with coilover sleeves you dont need a spring compressor, because the springs are so much shorter.

which coilovers did you get OP?

very true. if your not planning to use the stock shocks (which you shouldn't imo) you dont gotta worry about buying a compressor. good luck and once again, keep us posted

i wouldnt put those on my car if someone paid me.

they are gonna ride like crap.

but if you insist on running those, just get a cheap pair of shocks and save up for some real coilovers.

only if you use your stock shocks.

if you use the stock ones, you will need a compressor to get the stock springs off the shock.

if you buy aftermarket shocks, then you wont need one

Yeah. you need a compressor. You're gonna have to reuse the stock tophats and bumpstops, so you'll have to pull apart the stock assembly. You can do the tool rental thing at AutoZone. Their compressors kind of suck, but they work.

oh yes, i forgot about that. very good point.

i have used the compressors from advance auto before, its time consuming, but work fine.

you just put down around $80 deposit, which you get back when you return the tool

and disassembling a strut without a spring compressor can be very dangerous. people have done it before, without issues, but i wouldnt recommend it.

I don't have the ***** to do that. You're holding onto the nut on the end with a wrench when it explodes. I've seen it done, but since getting the right tool was free, I didn't think twice about it.

you risk stripping the last thread or two off the nut, then you have to go buy nuts.

and not the type you find on the corner downtown.

Those eBay springs will be too soft and bouncy. Wait and save up for something good.

If you don't want to use the spring compressor, take the nut off with the strut installed on the car. That way the spring is compressed, won't strip and you can slowly lower the hub down to release pressure. An impact wrench may be necessary if the shaft turns, or someone holding the shaft with Channel Locks.

i think you mean gc coilovers they dont make shocks.

no you dont need a spring commpresser, the rear sprng will pop out like 6 inches the fronts a foot or so. just keep anything important away, or be smart and get a compresser.
if you dont get a compresser i reccomend getting a impact, then you can stand on the end of the shock with the spring pointed towards noithing thats important, and knock it off, and just look away, youll know when its off lol. i have done this a few times and noithing went wrong i have also used a compresser which takes a long time.

oh and those coilovers are going to ride like crap, plain and simple. get something like a skunk2 or ground control, they ride great.

My old shocks didn't have a spot for an alan wrench, and Koni Yellows are adjustable and I HAD TO use Channel Locks or Vise Grips to hold the shaft while tightening the nuts. The key is to grip the larger portion at the top. Even if you mar it, it doesn't matter.

No idea. They were just plain old black colored ones, likely OEM. They might of had a spot for an allen wrench, but I put mine in a vice and used an impact wrench anyway.

yea there is a spot at the top of the shcok, inside that bolt.
thats how most people keep the shaft from spining in the shock.
