'98 accord help
tonight i shut the car off, and when i turned it back on it sounded like metal on metal ticking..not valves but sounded like it was coming from the pulleys, the pulley connected to the crankshaft...big one on the bottom..seemed to be a little wobbly. didnt have a choice so i continued driving and eventually the sound stopped and the door ajar, taillight out, and battery lights all came on. it would run good at about 2500rpm but cut out and sputtered above or below. then coming up my buddies driveway in 1st it finally died..tried to start it and it died again...any ideas?
Thanks, Matt

Check the pulley again. Sounds like it came loose, or your waterpump went kaput. The lights on your dash came on because the alternator was no longer putting out any power, caused by (in this case) your belt coming off when the crank pulley came off (or water pump failed). At that point, your car was running purely off your battery, which does not have enough juice to power the car for very long, nor would it produce enough spark for higher rpm driving.
Have any work done that involved removing the crank pulley? It's quite possible it wasn't tightened enough when it was reinstalled.
