Best starter bike?
I'm looking into buying my first motorcycle within a year and have been mostly looking at used CBR's. F3's mostly, since they go for fairly cheap and I've heard they are easy to ride.
Are there any others I should consider? (apart from 250s)

i just got my bike not too long ago, 04'R6. for a guy my size (180@5'9) its pretty tame. not bad at all imo but im sure there are tamer bikes out there
my first bike was a 04 Ninja 636, I weigh 200lbs and am 5'10, I personally think anything less than a 600cc is not worth the money, you will regret buying anything smaller.
I'll chime in as the advocate for starting small. I've had a 500cc and 3 different 600cc bikes...now I'm back on a Ninja 250. If you're worried about styling and bragging rights, by all means go for a 600. If you want a great, relatively inexpensive way to better your riding skills, get a 250/400/500.

I started on an F4i. It was a little more of a bike than I was ready for but taking an MSF course and some self control with the right wrist helped me learn. They are great bikes because they are really reliable and easy to ride due to the more upright riding position. If you can afford an i, I would spring for one.

I'll be sure and tell that to all my buddies that own DRZ400's.
