Default What variables can cause excessive tranny problems?

hi, in 3 years i have a had a few transmissions
jdm gsr - broke something in shift assembly (internal)
gsr - broke 3-4 shift fork
b16 w ls 5th gear lsd - won't go into 5th at all

could there be a single problem or issue that could result in the problems of all these transmission, i have had it suggested to me by different people, different things, that maybe my B&M short shifter is causing it, or maybe a motor mount is bent, causings poor alignment, or a bent shift linkage.. anyone have any other suggestions i should change..
i have always presumed my issues being direct result of wot shifting at the track and just pure abuse.. is there any know thing that can cause transmission failure that is non transmission related.. this stuff is just food for thought.. because i think i am gonna just fork it up and get a new transmission and i don't wanna see this issue again, thank you..

Well, at least you have a lot of spare parts to build a good tranny. Do a b16 1st, 2nd, gsr 3rd 4th and ls 5th or something lol.

That's weird though. I've never been a fan of short shifters since it's amplifying the speed of the shift linkage movement but a lot of my friends have them and still have yet to have big problems.

How hard do you shift? It's not that much worse to shift a little slower than to slam all the time. It's hard for me to think of what it could be, but I'd maybe try a different driving style? Since you've bent a shift fork and the shift change assembly, it makes it seem like maybe it is alignment of something or like you said, maybe a bent shift linkage.

Do they feel knotchy when shifting? If it does, see if it still does with a stock shift lever, just a thought

well i have yet to notice any shifter related problems, i'm going to compare the linkage to a spare one i have in my shop area. also yea i already have a b16 with ls 5th with lsd, all it needs is something fixed with 5th gear but all the synchros on that transmission are shot.. i do have the stock shifter as well and i may go back to it, haven't decided yet. How hard to shift, well i know while i'm racing it i have a tendancy to lean into the shift or pull on it while driving until the next shift, thats a habit i have to stop, cause on my ls tranny i bend the 3-4 fork so bad i wouldn't go into 3rd for a while, and after slamming 4th to much, it bent the fork the other direction, because 3rd gear came back and then it wouldn't go into 4th, eventually the fork broke at the rod.
I believe these problems are a combination of buying or recieving transmissions with already known issues or alot of miles on them, and then the abuse, while some took 1-2 years to go out, the modified one only took 2 months, but i has been in other cars before. The simple solution to me seems to buy a rebuilt one with carbon synchros that i found, but if not my driving style and something else is causing this then i need to solve that issue before. I tend to think there may not be an issue seeing as how not all these issues are the same.
