93 ls motor in 95 civic?

as the title says can i drop a 93 ls motor in my 95 civic and be legal in cali?

I'm not from california, but I'm pretty sure the engine has to be newer than the car.

good reference post!

if yours is older than 95 than no, it wont be legal in california. you'll have to get someone to pass you for smog.
