Hi guys, my first post here.

I just bought a 93 civic si coupe for 900 of a guy.

The tac says 422 000, the body is in decent shape only a rust patch on the rear panels. that has been patched and fixed. He says the engine only has 200 000 km on it, he says he dropped a new engine in him self. the engine is punched, d16z6 so it is a si.

Now i have friends telling me its not a dropped engine as there was no proof of it. the car seems to be bogging a bit they say, they cant at all spin the tires from a start. now me being the newb at 5 speed, it feels fine to me, vtec hits and everything fine.

I looked at the engine mount bolts and nuts, they look pretty fresh for a 93, zero rust on the bolts holding the engine in.


What do you guys think?

Imho 900 for a car with that many miles on it is a fair chunk of money, BUT if its in that good condition and the engine pulls well and it all works ok does it really matter?
Just because there's no proof the motor's been swapped doesnt mean it hasnt, the guy mite of just done it well

 

The car push's, just cant spin the tires at all. he wanted 1300 for the car.

 

Seems like you got an ok deal, I wouldnt worry about spinnin the wheels. The best way to pull away quickly is to have minimal wheelspin anyway.

 

Pics? Maybe do a tune up and general maintenance on it if the car looks to be in decent shape. If it lasts you a year or two its a good deal.
