Default p1259 vtec malfunction after motor change.

Just put in a motor that i got of a website and everything is ok except for two things. I have the check engine light that comes on about 20 seconds after the motor has started. I read the code and it is p1259. The car will start and idle fine and then the code comes on and then smoke comes out of the exhaust and then the idle is a little weird. I replaced the vtec control valve and solenoid off of the other motor and same thing happened. Any ideas? I went through the helms procedure and i came up with everything good. I am leaning towards both valves/sensors are bad. Thanks.

What color is the smoke that came out from the exhaust? Hope its not white because coolant is leaking into your combustion chamber.

Yea that thought crossed my mind. I am not sure if its white or blue. It was darker out when we saw it. I hope its not white i just got the motor from a everdrive.com and spent 1100 bucks on it. This really sucks cause i was supposed to leave for school yesterday. But it looks like thats not happening anytime soon.....

Also the car does not drive for ****. It idles fine but when i hit the gas it goes all over the place. I have looked at the forums for this code and there is nothing about the smoke out of the exhaust or the idle ok but anything off idle out of wack. Thanks for the help.

P.S. i did a timing belt and water pump i checked the marks like twelve times could i have messed them up?

If you messed up on your timing while doing a t-belt and water pump, your car will not fire up. I doubt its your timing being off but it can be your Ignition timing though. Grab a timing light to check it out.

I don't know much about the code you provided since its quite long unlike the regular code such as 22, 21, etc.

Well it might be a different code number but my helms manual states that its a vtec malfunction. I checked my timing belt marks and my distributor and they are both good. I am checking leak down now to see if their is anything wrong with it. They said on the website its guaranteed to start they didn't say anything about going down the street though.
