Default Window Regulator

i get off work today and i go and roll my driver window down in my blurple crx and the damn handle just spins.. took the handle off cause maybe the handle was stripped. couldn't get that lucky.. so i take the panel off to see what was up and found out the whole thing was stripped.. soo my questions are how do u take the window regulator off and get it out of the door? and will one from a hatch or sedan work? or does it have to be from a crx?

thanks

not sure on the interchangability, but i would guess they would work.

Use some painters tape and tape the window in the up position, make sure its as up as it can get on all corners and sides(no tilting). This way when you unbolt the old regulator it will hopefully stay in place and be very easy to bolt the new one on withough worrying about alignment.

Its been a while since i did a reg on these cars, but just follow the brackets around, pretty easy to spot.

I just had to fix my window (a bolt on the window guide was missing so the glass was getting jammed). What you want to do is roll the window down almost to the bottom where you can see the two 10mm bolts that hold the glass to the regulator. Just unbolt the glass and it should pull up through the door pretty easily. The regulator itself is held on by 6 bolts if I remember correctly and it will take a little moving and shifting about to get it out through the biggest hole in the door at the bottom. It's a pretty simple job to remove; just be patient with it. When installing the glass be sure it's seated in both guides correctly. You can even unbolt the bottom of one guide to flex it out of the way for an easier install.

have you tried spinning the crank with a pair of vice grips?

if it still doesnt work then chances are the gear that moves has fallen out. take off your door panel and look at it, you will pretty much be able to see why its not moving.

I am a glass guy, its really simple to change the regulator out, the window is held in with 2 10 MM bolts, and the regulator unbolts the same way. Very easy to change, I would not reccomend a used regulator as your going to end up right where you started, with another broke regulator.

i cant reach the 2 10mm bolts since the window is up. if the regulator is all the way extended it wont exit out of the opening its suppose to. and im sure if the regulator was maintenanced it wouldn't of happen i got the car like this

Since the window is locked in the up position you will need some help. Have a buddy hold the glass in place while you unbolt the regulator. I believe 6 more 10mm bolts ghat hold te regulator to the door itself. Once those a removed the entire set up along with the glass can be pushed down. Be carefully not to break the glass. As soon as you can see the 2 10mm bolts that attach the glass to the regulator you can unbolt it and continue to remove the regulator

ther should be a few holes in the door that alow you to access those glass bolts. and crx regulators are like an inch longer than one from an ef hatch. i know i made one fit into my 91 dx lol. get a friend to hold that glass while the regulator is rolled half the way up. itll take some wigglin but shell come out
