Default New engine for EG and $1500 to spend

My 95 Civic EX coupe's D16z6 engine died on me, and I'm looking to buy a better B series engine to drop into it. I plan to do this in about a month and by that time I will have $1500 saved up for a new engine. What should I get? Most of my friends say get s B18C GSR which sounds great for me, but I just wanna check with you guys. Also remember, I'd rather get a slower engine with less miles on it for this price, then a faster engine with more miles, so if that means getting a B20B or a B16 thats fine with me.

A B20B/Z, a good replacement motor and cheap.

Has good torque at low rpm and good for daily driving.

But I see that you live in CA also so a B20 is impossible to make it legal because it is a light weight truck motor and cannot be put in a passenger car.

Your next option is an LS motor (B18A/B) and you can find it on craigslist,HT marketplace, and junkyard for cheap also.

You will have a hard time finding a b18c for this price. Your options are LS, B20 or B16a.

If you want to go from D to B, its going to be pretty hard to stay around $1500.00. You could get a dohc ZC and use your same sohc tranny, mounts, linkage, etc. Theyre cheap, too.

1500 might be hard to find a b18c. ls motors are good and b16s are always good imo. but its up to u. try and find a gsr motor and save up alittle bit more.

b16 motor (I think the b16a3 had 158hp) that's what I have in my del slow.

DOHC VTEC ftw!

edit - and good luck finding a b18 for under 1500. And from there you've gotta buy mounts, tranny, axles, ecu, etc etc. I say B16

i say get another z6 motor for about 600 and build it using the rest

you can get up to 150-170hp on a N/A z6 (around the same as b16a's)

then when you pick up another 1500, turbo and jump into the 250-300's

I can't find a single z6 engine in the bay area....or even in the valley. If I could, I would buy a z6 and just use that.

If you cant find a Z6, then look for a Y8.. They're pretty much alike... best SOHC's
