Subwoofer: Pointed straight back or angled?
I am going to build a fiberglass box for my 99 Civic EX 4dr.
I am not sure if I should angle the subwoofer at the top of the trunk lid (not an extreme angle) or if I should point it straight back.
Has anyone tried both or does anyone know if the sound quality will change at all?
By the way It will be a JL 10W6v2 or 12W6v2 sub powered by a 500/1v2
Thanks for your time!

The best results that I have got is to fire the sub backwards into the trunk, to get some loading on it makes all the difference. I've had my sub firing in all directions and eventually traded off a bit of output and mounted it in the sparewell enclosure firing up. This way it takes up no boot space and I still have my spare.
i have tryed many different surfaces to load off of when i used to do spl, i know in a hatch my best experience was loading towards the rear left tail light cover in the trunk, but thats a hatch and completely different loading properties than a trunk car, personall, i would load towards the rear like these guys said, if your gonna take the time to build a fg box, may as well get a cheapo sealed box, and test with it to see what exactly you like, more than likely its gonna be to the rear..
Thanks for all the replies. I typed that out late last night and dont think i said what I meant to say. I was going to build one to face the rear most likely but what I was meaning by angled or not is if the sub, while pointed towards the rear, should be angled up slightly or facing directly horizontal to the rear like this:

Does either make a difference? Thanks for the help so far!

to be honest, we are talking about car audio... if you are driving the car, the difference in SQ will be negligible. If on the other hand you are stationary while listening to music, then I might lean towards option 2, and have it placed to once side (I usually prefer passenger side for no apparent reason).
Additionally, the point of a FG box is usually for show/freed up space, so in that case I would also want it angled up, so people can see it when you are showing off, and so that you have more space left in the trunk.
Other than that, i think (key word "think" haha) either way, you are not going to notice the difference in how "good" it sounds. If you do it is probably the placebo effect. Anyway, just my $.02 best of luck with the build, hope it goes well for you!

Id face it too the back.....sub on the pass side, and port on drivers.
Just make sure you dont make the box too big and block off any of the trunk

mount the subwoofer to the underside of the truck for awesome sq.. the cone slamming into the sheet metal gives it that awesome ghetto trunk rattle effect! just drill holes straight through the trunk and run bolts down to secure the sub... ha ha.. um sadly i have seen a guy come up to the shop with this before..
