Default Hogan Turbo Manifold Polish.....

Hey guys i thought i would share with you my Hogan sheet metal intake manifold, that is made out of aluminum and it just started to oxidize so i decided i would re polish it. So i decided i would buy some 6" buffing wheels and go to town on it.

Question too?? The manifold is flanged for a mustang TB if any of you guys are running one which one are you guys running on your b-series just curious to see who else is doing this on these type of manifolds...

on to pictures here are some pics of it before..

and just a little after it almost looks chrome dipped LOL. Picks don't do to much justice. =/

Man i cant wait till everything is all said and done. i will start a build thread within a month or so, showing the car, turbo etc etc. thanks for looking

Looks like the polish did the trick. I don't like that intake manifold design though. You said it is flanged for a mustang TB, but what is in the size of the opening on the manifold? That will help to figure out which TB you should use.

Looks great. You just used 6" buffing wheels?

yea and compound brown and white, works pretty good it polishes everything and looks good to.

Oh and the opening is 65mm or 68mm, but plan on running i guess a 70mm or bigger since i plan on doing 600hp or so,

You should be able to hit that HP mark with any of those tb sizes with no problem. One thing I don't like is all the 45 degree angles in the manifold. I would suspect that there will be issues with the flow inside the manifold to each cylinder. I would like to see a flow chart done on a CAD design program so that I could see exactly how the air would push around in there.

Wish i had one, but to be honest i do not have those things for you. Just a note i did not make the manifold, but a very reputable company did Hogan racing so lets just hope everything flows great, i will also be buying a BMC Race manifold just to see how that works, thanks for your input.

to be honest i dont think that the 45 degree or less angle runner is a big issue because the plenum sits high then runner lower to a 45 or less degree angle and drops straraight in a line to the head then to cylinder the only problem i see is just matching the head with manifold it flows pretty much in a straight line, like a performance head should, In quick and out quick. or am i missing something here, within a few months ill have access to a flowbench maybe that will help things out.

first of all I should have said noce job on the polish.

A sqaure box will never be ideal for a plenum design, there will be too many pockets of "dead" air in the corners creating turbulence and affecting flow.

I have flow testing over 40 different plenums and design and this is continually shown. I actually have an Audie Technology flow bench in pieces that I need to put together one day.

yea that makes sense, i might be switching it up for the bmc race one, but my goal is 500 to 600 whp you think it is worth it or this manifold is fine for my power goals? thanks for your input man.

in all honesty, we know the standard manifolds are good enough for those kinds of figures. Not meaning more can not be made with a custom designed one for the application, but for the sake of efficiency and if budget is a bit of an issue, i would stick with the standard one, but that's just my opinion.
