Help diagnose this its driving me nuts.......
Ok, i got this car a few months back and it had a loud exhaust on it but once i put a oem GSR exhaust on it i noticed a humming sound and minor vibration on acceleration, if i let off the gas it completely clears up. I was postive it was the axle but i was wrong..
I did notice alittle cracking in my drivers side bushing that hooks to the tie rods i believe it bolts up on the bottom side of the hub area.. I also noticed on that same rod, that the boot had lost its clamp and i could see grease. I had the mechanic at work look at it but he said it was fine but again he is a heavy equipment mechanic..
I just took it to the local commuter rail just to take it around the turns etc and go fast in reverse. I did'nt hear any humming in reverse but its whining so that might have covered it up..
It will make a humming sound with a very minor vibration sometimes in every gear under acceleration only but it is the worst in 5th gear cruising like on the interstate. It seems to be the worst right around 3k. It almost sounds like a wheel out of balance but i just changed wheels to eliminate that.
I put in a new axle already that did nothing.
I jacked it up and tried to shake the wheel at 6 and 12 o'clock and nothing moved. I did 3 o'clock and 9 o'clock and if i shake in hard i can get alil movement and hear a clunk sound on both sides off my car, i guess from the tie rod area. I did the same thing to my boys car his drivers side made the same noise, but his passenger side did'nt do nothing so i dunno if thats normal or not..
This is a jdm front integra and it has the jdm itr steering rack.
I'm hoping its nothing in the rack the steering wheel is'nt straight slightly off but it was'nt straight when i got the car either. It does'nt have any problems driving or any loosness in the steering wheel. The car drives great the noise is just driving me nuts.
Wish i could find a way to figure out if its the tranny because honestly my money is so tight i can't keep wasting money throwing parts at it. And i'm scared to drive it to much because i don't wanna break down..

ok after getting underneath my car a few minutes ago i noticed lots of grease i'd assume from my passenger side axle.
Could a bad passenger side axle make sounds and mild vibration only on the drivers?
all the issues i'm having i'm sure sounds to be coming from my drivers side front wheel area..

CV Boot cracked perhaps- leaking grease? Ball joint making clicking sound? Then probably the CV boot. Just take off the wheel, and inspect for a possible small crack in the boots. If dirt and crud got inside, and the grease leaked out, it would make bad clicking or grinding noises while under stress e.g. - turning, accelerating, braking.
