Can someone show me a good writeup for seafoam on a d15b7 engine?
I am considering doing this to my 92 civic and would like to see a good writeup that has pictures where the links arent dead, alot of threads are from 2004-2005. Thanks!!
Don't do it. I read up on Seafoam for a while. Researched it. People's opinions were 50/50. For 6 months after I ran Seafoam I had a lot of engine problems, mainly loss of power. Then one day my Y8 decided to throw a rod. It ran flawlessly for the 2 years prior to that.
I've heard good and bad. Some seafoam everything and swear by it while others seemed to hav engine problems. I think the main thing is people not following the instructions. When you put it in your oil your supposed to change your oil very shortly after. I've done it to my ATV motor and it worked good. Did it to my old civic with a D15 and I didnt notice a dfference from before or after. To that with the Y8 losing power yeah I can see why, carbon builds up and increases the compression ratio. you take that off with seafoam and now you lose power
well I found step by step how to do it, me and a friend did it yesterday. We were super careful in how much we added to each area of the car. The motor does not have a ton of miles on it so I thought it was safe to do. I know for a fact that I had carbob buildup anyways. I read countlessly online about it and came to the conclusion that people that had their engines F up were people adding too much, didnt know what they were doing, or their engines sucked in the first place, or they were too old. None of which I think I had so I gave it a shot. I will be changing my oil either tonight, or tomorrow morning. Car hasnt been driven much at all. Only to burn most of the **** out.
why bother, what are you trying to accomplish by doing this?
everytime i use it i just dump the whole can in the tank and use lucas oil treatment for the oil. runs super super smooth after lucas oil treatment

I actually did this on a d15, and I'm on here trying to figure out why my car won't start anymore! I don't mean to threadjack, but I've replaced the spark plugs, and sprayed some "starter fluid" in the appropriate areas, and it wants to turn, but doesn't. In retrospect, I wouldn't have done it, but my boy that has a miata did it, and it worked fine for him.

hmm. do you have a cel?
have you taken any hoses off?
that stuff prolly got sucked up sumwhere where it shouldnt have.
its a simple fix, you just have to find it.

No CEL; I haven't taken the hoses off yet, and which hoses, the brakebooster line? yeah I can imagine the seafoam got sucked up somewhere it should be, my del sol is at 145,xxx miles, and it seemed like a good idea at the time.
Honestly, I'm not sure, we thought it was a dead battery, so I jumped it with my FA1, but no dice. But I wonder if it could be the fuel filter too, I don't think it's ever been replaced.
Well my car seems to run a little better, it ran great before I even seafoamed it. I figured I would do it anyways though.
i didnt have any problems when i seafoamed my car. sucked up the whole can VERY SLOWLY through the brake booster hose and then let it sit for about 5 mins. i did this last year before i smogged it and i have not had a problem since. and i did this after installing a brand new cat.
the only time ive heard people having problems is cause they go to fast when sucking in the seafoam. it prolly took me about 15-20 mins to do it.

I wouldn't recommend it. At least on higher mileage engines. Don't know if it was just coincidence but afterwards the engine started giving me problems, losing power, and eventually threw a rod. Before that it ran perfect for 2.5 years. 170k+.
get the engine nice and hot, suck some in the brake booster line, suck a little bit at a time, plug the booster line after letting the liquid go into the manifold, put as much as you want in it, try not to get the car to die.
shortly after pull all 4 spark plugs pour in a couple oz of fluid into each cyl.
wait a couple hours or so
put rags on the top of each spark plug hole while you turn the car over multiple times to get the fluid to either shoot upwards or flow out the exhaust valve, once that's done put all 4 plugs back in and drive it, it will still smoke for a while, and you will defiantly find out where your exhaust leaks are!
I never really put the stuff in the oil or the fuel.
anyway my 2 cents.

OK so I have a 95 hatch with a 95 gsr. I seafomed my car and had lots of white smoke for a while. I had like a gallon or 2 of gass and poured as it says on the bottle into the engine oil, gas tank and cleaned my engine. I used the brake booser vaccume line cus it is right in the middle of the manifold.
Go youtube and type seafoam you'll see ppl do it
My engine ran good and fine no problems at all it felt a bit better

yeah it does run a little better, acceleration improved just a LITTLE. I have alot of weight in my sedan from my system so my car acceleration is already crappy as is.
Well yeah they say not to do it on engines with high mileage, so you already f'ed up by doing it in the first place. by the way its not like these engines are super expensive anyways.
