So i get everything put back together finally on my Z6... and now im leaking coolant from under the distributor... It wasnt even leaking before i had the head machined, it was just boiling the coolant, so now im stuck saying wtf..!! I torqued everything to spec "torque wrench started actin screwy on head bolts #8 #9 & #10" but seemed to work fine.. Could improperly torqued bolts cause this..??
Sounds like a torquing problem.
First off bolts 8,9 & 10 are at different ends of the head.
Did you step torque or just go to 53ftlbs?
OEM bolts or ARP studs ?
Your going to get lots of questions.
Did you clean the threads out on the block before you installed the bolts/studs ?

yes i torqued in 3 steps, i believe it was 15, 30, 53...
OEM Bolts...
And yes i cleaned the threads out to the best of my ability...
I'm also thinking its a tq problem, maybe i should take'm out and try again..?
No,
Just tighten them (equal) with a 1/2 ratchet, then go get a better torque wrench. Do not loosen them.
I have noticed the last few on SOHC's will feel funny, set the wrench at 50ftlb and torque all in the order until none move. then go to 53ftlbs do the same, in the patteren until none move.

I'd check under the distributor as well for a little hose. Mine recently crumbled and was leaking, got a quick replacement and it was fixed.
Edit: Nevermind seen you already fixed the problem.

its cool, thanks for the input anyways bro.. "and also thanx for havin my old avatar, always brings a couple laughs"
Glad it worked out for you.
In about 10 day's you'll want to set the wrench at 53ftlbs and tighten them all again. Then may be one more time before winter.
Tighten only, do not loosen.
