Default Pro's - Con's, Automatic vs. Manual Transmissions

Alright guys, Im gonna be doing a conversion from my Auto to Manual, hopefully, with enough money, with help from some H-T members.... Anways, before I begin collecting money and reevaluting my payments, I just want to know which has better Pro's than cons. I did a search on the web, from that I know that Manuals, better gas mileage, and more overall control. Thats what I really have to support me switching besides it being just fun. I just wanna know what you guys think are the pro's and con's of Manual's, and the pro's and con's of Automatics. And what your opinions are for which is better(which im shure your all gonna say Manual, cept for one or two people)

Jon
Thanks guys.

My comment:

I drive in heavy traffic every day, and I'm a purist. Automatic transmissions are the worst invention, PERIOD. 'nuff said.

depends how hard the clutch is and how much traffic you sit in every day...

my daily driver i just sold was a dodge dakota with a 4.7L V-8 n manual tranny and to tell you the truth, a clutch that holds 320 lb-ft of torque is a little tougher than a honda clutch, so at times in traffic it sucked...but i've never felt that way in any of my honda cars.

I'd say it's just as easy to sell your car, buy a 5-speed equipped car.

But if you cant sell it, go stick.

more real power to the wheels with the 5spd. Auto trannies, due to power transfering thru all that metal n' fluid n crap have greater drivetrain hp loss...

Auto- easier to drive on hungover days. only have 4 gears = slower, when u step on the gas it automatically drops it down a gear i dunno, i drive an auto cause my car was a great deal, but i used to drive a stick and i miss it lots of the time.'
Stick- fun, faster, usually less expensive.
if uve already got an auto though, its to much $$$ and time to do conversion

from what i hear around. auto's are technically better for boost and i think NAWWGGSSS....

manual gives you way more control of the whole situation...

traffic sucks in a stick.. auto's are easy to use
if youd stay auto. i would use that seven hunred bucks and build up the auto. they can be made into monsters.. if money is there. Check Levelten.com i got my h22 tranny now. but once it goes.. ill go with their kit.. it takes out the lag, and shift dropping.. and some other features.. they have a few options you can get. one for 300 and another for 450ish. so bout eight hundred would make a big difference... not you can put on a grand or more and it would be a DRAG BEAST

I thought about converting my Turtle shell LX into a manny, but then I relized that it would be dumb to pay $1,000 more for a car because its automatic, then spend an extra $1,000 to convert it to a stick....Then again everytime I go out... damn i wish I had a stick

Manual transmissions for life... that is until they have CVT's better developed for higher power applications.

I had an auto-manual swap done with my h22 swap and IMO why waste all the money just to be automatic. Unless you drive in very bad traffic you want the 5sp. Besides automatics with exhausts sound like *** and I felt like a ***** drive an automatic.

yes, i have the money, its just gonna take me about 2 - 3 weeks to gather it all, and COMPLETLY make sure i have enough, if i dont because of bills then i will have to wait a few more weeks, no biggie.

To me, this would be another modification, something is worth to me, learning. Im the kinda learner that learns by actually doing, not seeing/hearing. Not to mention that im kinda bored just putting my car in d4 and going, where i live there is hardly ever any traffic at all.

i bought my 93 as a project car, i could've gone with a 2001. But because i dont know **** about cars, i wanted a car that I "might" ruin, but i know i wont.
