Also from Mass, So I feel ya.
Drive slow.
Be prepared for nothing but straight-line traction.
Brake early.
If this winter is anything like last winter there will be days when your Si won't make it out of the driveway. 10 inches of wet snow FTL
VSA is your best friend when stuck.
All in all, try and drive it as little as possible.
Oh, but you should find an empty parking lot sometime, (preferably one with no light poles) turn your VSA off and get nuts.

Ontario, Canada: With any FWD car, get yourself some good winter tires and you'll be ok. My colleagues that do not own winter tires struggle and I (not in the Si yet) have never had any trouble.
Its not a feather and not RWD, some winter tires and you'll be ok.

Blizzak winter tires..I'm from Wisconsin and trust me we see snow and lots of it. I've had my Si for 2 winters and never had any issues in the snow. I prefer to downshift to slow the car down (provided I have enough time to do so). And start in 2nd gear when you have to. I'm assuming you've driven in snow before, so pretty much do the same thing..No real tips or tricks, just experience should help you out..

I live in California. Snow to us is something you buy from a guy on the corner. Even in the rain, the stock tires suck. Good winter tires are going to be your best bet.

Spinning your tires at 6.5k and turning the layer of snow beneath them into ice won't do much for your situation.
However, if you need to power through a hardened lump of snow, turning the VSA off will be helpful.
Man what I would give to have a real winter down here.
It's been 100+ for the last 30 days in a row except for a brief rain storm somewhere in there. Combine that with 80% humidity most of the time and I feel like driving down to KSAT news and slapping the **** out of the weather man with a nail-spiked two-by-four every time he says there "might be some relief in sight".
Enjoy your winter fellas!
