limp mode with no check engine light?

Default limp mode with no check engine light?

i recently put a new head gasket on my b16a2 swap. every since its been running like its in limp mode but there is no check engine light on. it has no power and has trouble going over 3500 rpms. ayn ideas?

yeah the cel comes on with a different ecu, but it runs the same.

i had the same problem with my Poorman Type R it ended up being a little piece of plastic in my speed sensor. check all your plug/sensors and make sure they have good connection. it may be sending a signal to the ecu not causing a Cel but not a good enough signal to run correctly.

I'm having the same issue currently with my d16z6. Runs good other than it being in limp mode at 4500 RPMS and it acting like it's misfiring in the beginning of 2nd and 3rd.
no check engine light new cap and rotor and brand new wiring but my Speedo cable is broke so I'm thinking that may be it. But I'm not 100%

CEL on for any reason will cause limp mode. If the CEL is not on, unable to rev over 3500 or so is often because the cam is out of time.
