Default Help with Cruise Control?

when i got my 91 sedan a few months ago the cruise control was the only power feature that didn't work. i checked the fuse and it's good, so i'm wondering what would be the things to check to diagnose the problem.

thanks in advance-

when mine stoped working there was a little rubber bumper on the clutch pedal that activated the clutch saftey switch and that little rubber thing came off so the switch wasnt getting pushed in. cruise control works with a bunch of saftey switches so check those theres 2 on the clutch and one on the brake pedals. some times the switches on the steering wheel get coroded inside and dont make a good conection. and check all the wireing too.

does it look similar to the blue piece that breaks off when your brake lights don't turn off

man that was exactly what it was! the little rubber piece that pushes the safety button had come off the clutch pedal, so i just put a screw in it for now to push the button and the cruise control works perfectly!

anyone know where to get the replacement rubber pieces besides the dealer or what they're actually called?

i tried every parts store for that little rubber piece none of them have it. best bet is the dealership it cant be that much but will probably be overpriced for what it is. i still got mine ghettoed up no problems.

black0hatch, you are the man! I too was missing the rubber bumper. I put in a bolt with a nut to keep it from falling out and it works just like it used to.

The bolt I used:

I shaved the bolt head down on a bench grinder to prevent it from changing clutch pedal height:

If you press your clutch pedal in, you can see a hole where the rubber stopper used to be and the place where it pushes in the switch for activation:

I think this info ought to be stickied to help others searching for this same info.
