Default Cruise Control problems, searched TONS. EG2 del Sol 94

When I press the Cruise control button, its green light goes on. But when I accelerate past 35 mph, and press the SET CRUISE button, the Cruise Control light in the cluster does not come on, and cruise control is not cruising or controlling anything. I read somewhere about the clutch switch, I checked it and my clutch does NOT press it when clutch is disengaged, it doesn't retract all the way up. But I tried pulling the clutch backwards while trying to engage cruise control, no luck. I lifted the front of my car, accelerated and tried engaging CC while pressing that clutch switch with my finger, no CC. What else should I check? How do I check with a voltmeter if the switch is working? How to check the brake switch? What else do I need to check? Fuses? I checked the #24 underdash fuse, 15 A, its good.

Cliff notes
- Cruise Control light on switch goes on, but cruise control won't work
- Want to know what do I need to check to diagnose CC problem.

Thanks in advanced!

P.S. I even searched archived content, a lot of "why do you want CC in the first place?" in old posts.

I did it as its supposed to, first the Cruise Control button must be on, then you press Set Cruise at desired speed, but I didn't know it was past 50 mph, I had read somewhere here it was past 35mph. I'll try that out later tonight.

My cruise acts funny too, like it can't breathe to get on and off the throttle. There's an air line from the intake manifold to the CC unit. The dealer "replaced" this line, but the cruise still sucks. I noticed a small filter element that is between the CC unit and manifold, in the far corner of the engine bay. I haven't replaced it, but suspect it could cause problems.

I don't know why you can cruise below 35 but not above. If it WILL turn on and control the throttle below 35, that means your switches are working properly. From my experience, CC will not turn on at all if the switches aren't functioning or properly connected.

Can anyone else please help? Point me in the right direction to troubleshoot this situation. I have a multimeter, I could check any sensor, plug, switch whatever if anyone tells me how and what to check. Please! Thanks !!!
