auto shift problem

Default auto shift problem

i got a 97 accord non vtec auto for a dd.. well after driving for 5 mins or so it starts down shifting by its self? i can turn the car off and back on and it will be fine for like 2 mins then start doing it again?

I had the problem, it was the TCU, first get the stored codes, tcu,s can be found in wrecking yards for 40.00 to 100.00, be sure to get exactly the right number or you may have more problems, they all look alike but are not. you can also find em rebuilt on ebay,

where are they located on the car? i through the ecu controled the tranny.

its located right next to the ecu under the carpet on the passeneger floor board.

i dont have anything next to my ecu? the ecu is attched to the floor plate

if you have a 97 accord automatic then you have a tcu, it is mounted on the plate under the carpet on Right hand side of car, the ecu is the big one tcu is smaller. you have to lift the plate out and they are mounted on the bottom side. be careful with wiring

ecu and tcu are mounted side by side under carpet, tcu is the smaller unit, its there

before trying to replace anything... have you checked/replaced the ATF?

trans shift points are decided based on many conditions, many of which are engine related. if you havn't done an engine tune-up recently that may help, and would be good to do before continuing with transmission troubleshooting.
