Default integra suspension help

info on the car: skunk 2 camber kit, skunk 2 coilover sleeves, spring tech shocks. was installed by previous owner.

the new parts waiting to go in: tokico hp blues, and eibach sportlines

problem: im following multiple articles DIY on changing suspension on integra (99 gsr)

im following the article on team integra and do exactly what they do now im running into a problem, I unbolt the brake lines, and the two bolts from the pivot arm (fork) then go up top to the engine bay and unbolt the shock free

now ive done the suspension on my scion and after i got the bolts free the axle and brake rotor would drop to the ground a few inches allowing me to have a lot of room to take out and install the new shocks/spring.

but while working on the gsr suspension, i take all bolts out and im not having the same effects, the suspension isnt dropping and it doesnt even move i have to step on the rotor to push it down so i can have room to take the shock out of the fork, and putting them back in is impossible i have no room at all.

never did a suspension on a gsr before but i followed the article on team integra and im stumped.

thanks

very odd. i dont see why it wont drop enough for you to get the shock and coils out. is something froze or stuck not allowing the other components to drop?? from reading this you are doing everything right.

yeah its weird, ill have to take pictures and post it....

i recently helped my uncle on his 93 hatch and we did the same process and his brake rotors and axle fell with weight a few inches giving us a ton of room to work with

the integra not even moving down a inch, i have to get someone to put force on the rotor so the forks can have enough room to fit onto the bottom of the shock. its like something is forcing the suspension to stay put.

on all the DIY articles i see everyone suspension basically fall a few inches.

Ill have to check the part numbers again on the shocks bc this is weird idk if the shocks are too long or what but they fit the springs perfectly.

i have a pic but its not that good ill post it any ways:

i have the top shock bolted loosely on top but as you can see i have no room to work... i had a friend step on the brake rotor to fit the fork on bottom. but its doesnt seem right now its basically impossible to get the bolts in especially the bottom one

So, you're trying to get the suspension to droop further? Have you disconnected the ARB?

When I pulled my front suspension out, I just removed the upper shock mounts and the fork to LCA bolt, and pulled the entire shock/spring/fork assembly out whole. Seemed easiest that way.

i got the old set up out but it wasnt easy, this is the new set up half way in.....

i know this is suppose to be easy and i followed step by step the DIY article on team integra, but not having nearly the amount of room they have.

ive notice in their photos in the DIY when they jack up the car and take the wheel off the suspension and lower arms are at a angle around 45degree, doing the same step ive notice mine are half or less that degree..

you can see from the photo how the shock in the fork hole is sitting on the rod, from there i would have some one stand on the brake rotor to fit the bolt but its nearly impossible.

when i done my scion suspension we had to place a jack to raise the rotor and suspension to fit the bolt.

the car does have skunk 2 camber kit but i doubt thats what causing the problems bc i took those out and still having the problem so i put them back in.

thanks for all your help ill probably just get coilovers if i cant get these in....

you could do what tuner said and disconnect the arb. you shouldnt have to. i dont do that when i do susp swaps...but it could give you that tad bit more droop to get it in. also try tightening the top two shock nuts to get it higher off the lca. good luck.

i think i know your problem. it has happened to me b4 with skunk 2 camber kits.
the camber goes all the way up the past the frame of the car where the fender bolts on too so when trying to bring the suspension down it wont let becuase its stuck.

look inside and up the fender wel and check if the camber kit is stuck against the frame.
if it is you will have to pry it out.

yeah i actually unbolted the camber at the top, and pulled them down it was kinda stuck but got it down, so the kit was free from the fender, and still no luck, i thought that was the problem also, but it wasnt.

tomorrow ill take a look at it and take better pics.
i know this job is suppose to be easy as pie. but for some reason this car is giving me a hard time.

Ill compare the shock with my uncles tokico that came off of his 93 hatch.
i looked at the part# and they are correct for 94-01 integra gsr non type r

the thing that puzzles me is that when i look at all the pictures of the DIY articles it seems that everyones lca seem to drop more at a steep angle, mine doesnt look anywhere as near as steep as theirs ill take pictures of this, i hope the HT community can help me solve this, i hope its just a idiotic mistake or something that i missed.

check this post out tomorrow thanks
