Suspension bottoming out and hitting frame, HELP!!!
OK, I'm stumped on this one... Here's the setup: 92 hatch, GC coilovers and KYB shocks. The car is lowered about 1.75" and had no problems until about six months ago. What's happening is that when the suspension is heavily loaded, the upper contol arms are contacting the chassis. The tips are hitting the sheetmetal on the shock towers. This is happening on both sides equally. The tires are not rubbing at all.
My first attempt at fixing this was to replace the shocks, which turned out to be blown (do you have any idea how hard it is to tell on a mod car?). This made things better as suspension movement was better controled, but didn't ultimately solve the problem. None of the suspension arms look bent, and none of the bushings look broken, though they are 11 years old and have 175k miles on them (maybe this is it?). There are not any really bad vibrations either. Any ideas?

check your springs as they may be damaged i would also check any rubber or poly bushings and replace as needed
I have the same problem on my '99 Si. My car is lowered about 2.25 inches and my Skunk2 control arms have actually left indentation mark on the strut tower. I didn't have this problem with my stock control arms(are you running aftermarket control arms?). I was also running an AEM big brake upgrader(heavier than stock) and 18" wheels(heavier than stock). Since I have had my stock wheels on the car for the winter I have not had this problem.
i have that problem with my skunk 2 coilovers and camber plates. i have dents on my fender well from them. i have 14's with 195 55's. it seems to only happen on rare occasions. i think i might have to step up the shocks soon again.
I've got stock control arms, light 15" C8s, and basically stock (as far as weight goes) brakes. I'm going to try just cranking the **** out of the shocks. If its a fairly common thing, I guess I just won't really worry about it too much...
