heIp BuiIding a B18a1 ls (need suggestions pIease)
Car is a 98 civic ek hatch.
Ok guys i got a b18a1 Is dohc non vtec with a gsr tranny boIted up to it in the car now. I want to drive it everyday cause i Iove the car to much to Iet it sit. I have 3500 to spend on the engine internaIs and head and do not want to sIeeve the bIock.the head is being ported and poIished so want a good set to compIiment that. I am going to be running a garret t3/t4 set up on the engine. I want to boost no more then 20 pounds whiIe racing 11-14 driving arounds. I am coming to you guys to update or change my Iist of what i need to re buiId the bIock and internaiIs for the turbo. Iooking to make anywhere from 350 - 450 if thats reasonabIe

cp pistons and wrist pins 10-5-1 compression, manIey rods, acI race bearings, moroso pre taped oiI pan, arp head studs, new aIt, new water pump, aII new seaIs comptech head gasket.
head
- miId port and poIish, brian crowIer stage 2 turbo cams, brian crowIer vaIves, brian crowIer sprins and retainers, moroso vaIve cover to kepp it aII hidden. skunk 2 exhaust manifoId, skunk 2 throttIe body, skunk 2 fueI raiI, 600-770 cc injectors not sure yet, 255 waIboro fueI pump

oh yeah everything is boIted up to a gsr tranny
I need to know what type of stand aIone and ignition system shouId i be running with this set up. any better parts pIease teII me or wiII work better.

What I would do is build the bottem end to handle all that boost and get some stage 2 or 3 cams (remember not to go cheap).
With a good setup and a good tune. You should make 350-420WHP easily with 20lbs of boost.

^^ why not boost a ls/vtec??
using the gsr head is going to give you higher comp, so you would want to look into lower comp pistons,
all you would really need to get is the ls/vtec kit i reccomend golden eagal.
or you could just buy a gsr long block and build and boost that.

no way dont drop the compression i drive daily with my b20v at 10 to 1 it builds boost faster, makes more power on less boost, better low end. low compression is a thing of the past but with higher compression you need to make sure your nice to it on really hot days or have a temp comp table set up to pull timing and or boost when the temp rises. hes right about the gsr swap though but its more money. definatly do arp head studs though worth the money. if its a street set up keep it simple pistons rods and studs. i like cp pistons its what i use. the ramhorn manifold might be over kill on a set up like that im using a log style it works and its cheap. then you have to figure out if you wanna use a external or internal wastegate which will also affect price and turbo options quite a bit. make sure you have management i use hondata it has fuel learning functions like the stock ecu which is nice for gas mileage and driveability and make sure you have the fuel to support. also i noticed you didnt say anything about a clutch, 6 pucks are rough and have limited life espically with daily street use see what options you have. i use a twin plate but its expensive... really expensive. then i guess cooling would be the other issue. do it right do it once my 2 cents.
im gonna take u guys up on ur suggest and do a gsr head. You said do the goIden eagIe Is/vtec conversion kit what eIse wiII i need to foIIow through with this such as cutting into harness to set it up for vtec to oiI Iines needed to make it work to a soIenoid. I need you guys to teII me what i need. i appreciate the heIp so fare and wouId greatIy appretiate more heIp from u guys with what i need to do the fuII vtec head conversion. thankyou
my suggestion is you should lower your pistion compression ratio while boosting... how about getting a 9.8:1 c/r piston... most turbo geekz use this compression and seen to make around 400whp.
