I have about 2200$ to spend on my B18 engine only, turbo not included in my price limit for the moment. I was wondering if you guys think i would be happier with the VTEC head, or just keep a regular B18 head. My dilemma is i could spend the extra money on a vtec head... and spend less money on the build... but i'm not sure which i want. I have also heard that VTEC doesnt go to well with turbos... is this just a rumor ? Anyways i would just like some input, thoughts / suggestions. Im looking to make around 375 whp. I have built engines in the past, but never a turbocharged one. So let's assume 2000$ in parts, and 200$ for machine shop work.

I need to know if i should get the VTEC head, or just spend the money on the engine instead and upgrade other things. Remember this is for turbo !

B16 head. gsr cams, pistons, rods, bearings, machine work, should be close to your goal

 

Ok so you think it's better to spend the money on a VTEC head rather than keeping the B18 head and spending the money i saved on other parts? (pistons / rods etc)

 

i would put the money into the engine and not the vtec head.... later down the road you can focus on vtec head... OR, you can build up your b18 head

 

Yeah that's what i was thinking. I think i'm going to just build a B18a, and use the internals from the head when i get a VTEC head.

eh its personal prefferance. the vtec head would yield nice power in stock form on the motor. and for the few hundred they cost use, IMO its an awesome addition.
