Default A few Wire Tucking Questions (to tuck or not to tuck)

I'm 90% done with my engine build and I'm debating on doing a full out engine bay clean up... I'm debating on whether or not I really want to tackle this or just get my motor back in the car and running!?! Anyhow my question relating to Wiring tucking is this.

When moving the fuse box to the cabin must every wire in the engine/headlight harness be lengthened? If not at what point must I cut and solder wires? I'm trying to avoid cutting my harness at all cost, depining I'm fine with.

If the only thing required in tucking the harness is pulling hte wires through the firewall and relocating the fuse box, depining the wires and shrink wrapping them, and rerouting them then I'm down.

If cuting soldering almost every wire is required to extend the wires then the hell with it.

I have not done it, but I have read that you do not have to cut anything to move the main fuse box.

With everything else I think it depends on how you route the harness.

Dude did you actually read that or do a search and then post it like I didnt do any research first? I seriously spent an hour reading that whole thread before I posted, Chase bays is sick with it but all that thread shows me is a few quotes but nothing in detail and nothing all that clear. In fact the most informative post in that thread is the Power Steering removal which contained four quotes stating it needs to be vented and looped.

ANYHOW, I'm fine with resoldering some connects but not resoldering every wire. I suppose most people strip the harness, rout the connectors the way they like, if they are long enough extend/solder and then wrap them up...

Can anyone whom as already done this confirm

awsome. Seems like a pretty easy task then. Simply depining to add wrap and rerouting.

Does anyone have a pin-out diagram on OBD1 and OBD2 Integra? I'm running OBD-1 ECU but I have a ton of weight in the harness I'd like to lose...

I did the fusebox on my EM1 and I didnt have to extend any wires other than the power and ground wires for the battery. The fusebox will fit either in the kick panel or where the passenger side airbag is with no need to extend the wires.

oh I see you just registered in 2009. that makes sense.

for one you should be posting that in that particular thread for help and not a forum where people fabricate and weld stuff.

second off if you want, don't spend an hour reading the thread spend a few weeks. It's about 3-5 years worth of information in that thread with most of it highlighted on the first page and showing final products of peoples work while their notes and fitting sizes etc are sprinkled throughout that topic.

So sorry you didn't get the anwer you wanted right away. I will tell you off the bat that if you don't know **** about electrical, buy a multimeter, some basic eletronics books and study your fsm until you know your electrical system front to back before you disassemble and re-assemble anything or tuck anything.

Unless you have a car that can be driven while you experiment the hard way.

And I'm only giving you a hard time because I've done it, and will be doing it on a few more cars and it's not easy. And a basic understanding of your electrical system is a must so you don't have your car catch on fire for half ***-ing stuff or not having an understanding of the consequences of doing a relocation without proper protection of the wires.

yes I understand, I'm not new I've been here for over 2 years... And yes I have a DVOM fluke as well as all the other things. I'm not saying I cant handle it. Thats not the question, the question is if its going to take a week or a month. A week I'm fine with a month I cant. I have another car for a my daily other wise I would have been out of a car 3 months ago when I over boosted. I couldnt find a thread specific and everything I found under wire tucking was listed in welding and fabricating, so I posted it here.

main page has manuals for basically every honda/acura model. The manuals will have detailed pinouts in the back.
