Default fuel starving and hesitation

we are working with a 97 civic sedan with a b18b1 with gsr trans. i pretty much am needing to know what engine harness to use without having to change the rest of the wiring. i think what is happening is the harness is so hacked up the ecu doesnt know exactely what to do. so when i start it (cold start) it will idle for about 15mins. then bog down and almost die then it will catch itself and rev. back up, it dies that like 3 times then its fine. then when i drive it, there is a hesitation sometimes at like 3k rpm but mostly around 5k rpm. what do you think?

Is the ECU matched to the engine and tranny?

Any CEL codes?

Fixing the O2 sensor code may solve most if not all of the problems.

ya i dont know if that is going to do it because i had an o2 sensor in there before and it did the same thing i took it out after getting it caught up with my axle, it was an o2 sensor that was extended for a header, well i could try that again because i know that has a great deal in fuel trim and every thing i am still using a d series wiring harness out of an ex that shouldnt matter right?

When I said fixing the O2 sensor, I meant doing repairs that eliminate the O2 sensor code. The actual fix seems to be repair of the wires. Also consider that the problem might be a bad ECU.

ya i figured that could be, so i am going to borrow a friends ls ecu to be sure and as far as the o2 sensor it might be a bad sensor to start with so i am gonna get a hold of one that hasn't been tampered with and see what happens do you know off hand if an ls has a charcoal canister that has a sensor on it? my old d series did and i am using that same box and of course the wiring harness

I did a b18b1 in my 98. I used the civic harness. Nothing needed to be hacked up. I just had to extend a few wires.

What happened to your harness?
