6x9 only producing nothing but bass, need to know adjustments.
hey whats up guys,
I just installed a set of 6x9s in my ek hatchback (did not come with rear speakers) so instead of cutting my passenger side wiring harness looking for the stock wires, i hooked up my apm and ran the wires to the speakers directly. the thing is now they are only producing bass, when i turn the sub mode off on my headunit they make no noise whatsover. i need to know how to get them producing bass mid and hi's. i will list the adjustments that are avaible to me.
- crossover point dial
- lpf , apf, hpf,
- subwoofer mode on pioneer headunit
- or do you guys think i may have crossed the connections wrong like negative to positive
like i said nothing but bass comes out of them right now...

Is the bass going along with the music?
What kinda amp going to 6x9s?
Turn lpf on the highest setting, maybe 120ish i think on my old Pioneer, should cut out 120hz and lower....or go higher if you have it

Ok swithched to apf. Now when I have subwoofer off on my head unit the speakers only make white noise and static. When I turn subwoofer mode on all I here is horribly distorted bass that goes with the song. Its a rockford fosgate 2 channel amp
Does your radio only have one set of pre-outs? If there are ones for the speakers, hook your rcas up to that. Also check the x-over on the radio. I think a lot of Pioneers come set at 80 Hz LPF default. See if you can turn that x-over off. Otherwise you might have to wire to the speaker outputs of the radio and run speaker wire back instead of the amp.
yep get off the rca sub ch, thats probably gonna clear up your problem, if you do not have another set of rca's, get a loc.

I think an LOC would probably be a waste. An amp is not needed for those speakers, I would guess, and he could run off the H/U power. If he's already tapping into speaker wires, he might as well do it with just more speaker wire and run it straight to the 6X9s.
If the HU has a set of sub-woofer outputs it is a good bet there is a set of front, rear or both, full range outputs.
Amp setting must be apf or hpf and a full-range signal must be used from the HU the HUs sub-woofer output should not be used.
What is the model of the Pioneer HU? 94
