Default building race car, NEED HELP DECIDING.

QUESTION 1? i plan on building a time attack car, and i want to seriously compete with the big boys. i was looking for the most capable platform on a budget today when i came across two platforms the 92-5 del sol, weighing in at 1056 kg stock and the 1984-6 civic hatch weighing in at 856kg stock. which should i go for? the hatch is lighter but i think the delsol has more aftermarket support and better suspension possibilities. either car will be stripped and swapped. any other car ideas lemme know.

QUESTION 2? which would be the best engine choice? K20, B18, b16? any other engine ideas lemme know.

What do you gurus reccomend, any help would be appreciated.

ummmz.... if your going to compete with bigboys you need a big boy car not a civic.

you need like an E36 or an S2k or even a miata. those are bugdet bigboy cars

Hatch. Build a G23 and turbo it if you can fit it into the car.

hes on a budget, so it would nto be in his best interest to go a turbo route... especially in TIME ATTACK

you can pickup a cheapo s2k for like 8-9 g's

then just put a roll bar suspension tires and an approved seat / harness and your good for the track, then as you get more experience and save money, start adding bolt ons and tuning

if you could find a delsol made in 92 that be awesome considering there were made 93-97. honestly best bet with your car choices would be the 84-86 hatch over the del. id look at going for an eh chassis b/c there are far more options advailable.

and def go all motor, not FI for a time attack car in budget. built B is bout the same as a k swap.

definately go all motor......
any lag time at all, even with a small turbo, is enough to put you at the bottom of the pack on any time-attack course. Build the hell out of a b18 and give those guys a run for their money!!

Do B20VTEC if your going All motor B series. On A GSR or ITR Transmission. I would go with ITR for the LSD which should help you on the track. id say that the hatch will be faster but the sol might corner better. But def B20 VTEC for the motor. A decent build on them will put u in 200+WHP all motor. Without ITB's which are expencive as **** anyway. B20 Block + CTR/ITR Head, ITR Oil & Water Pump. LSVTEC kit with right gaskets etc. Possibly a set of cams. a nice CAI Header and exhaust and u should be pretty good.
Check out bisimoto's site for some kickass parts.
