LSD Front wheel drive?
Earlier today, I was looking on Ebay at parts for my 1997 Honda Accord LX. There was a limited-slip differential that I was thinking about getting, but my buddy tells me you can't put an LSD in a front-wheel drive car? Is this true?
Here is the link to the part. Does anyone know if this is possible to do? Also... I was wondering (if this is possible to put in) what the difficulty of installing this part is. 1-10?

Hah! Thanks. Do you have any idea about installing them? And do I need to get a new tranny? Or is it compatible with whatever the stock one? I still can't decide if I want to drop the $1,200 on the H22 swap or just stick with the F22 non-VTEC I have now and boost it.
Also, I want to start building my engine. Where would be a good place to start? All I have now is intake, and my Greddy EVO2 catback exhaust is on it's way. But I want to start working a little more on the engine before I do anything else with the body/suspension (ie: wheels, lips, etc.) I already have some coilovers picked out. Any suggestions?

I am pretty sure OBX is the only company that makes LSD for our cars. However, some of their products are complete garbage but I think alot of people like the LSD.
As far as suggestions, use the search feature.
I personally would keep the f22 and boost it, a non vtec engine is better for turbo in my opinion. I can handle 6-8 psi safely on stock internals. Others however will always say H22.

Lots of FWD cars have LSD in them. The new Civic SI's come with them if I recall. Might be the RSX-S or both even. Your other option is to buy a M2B4 Prelude transmission that has OEM LSD. If you buy an H22 swap pay the extra and buy that one.

Yes yes yes OBX is full garbage but it is a hit and a miss sort of thing (heaps of thread on HT some say they went good some say don't touch it) - I went right the first time, bought and installed Mfactory.
NO no no, there are other companies like mfactory (helical), quaife (helical), Kaaz (clutch) that makes lsd for f22 and h22 as both are the same.
Personal experience - I have mfactory helical lsd in my car right now (just came out of workshop last week), when I turn and give it a kick on the pedal the car pulls in on where it is supposed to turn, you can turn tighter with more power. On straights, it's number 11 burnouts.
Your mate who said you shouldn't put lsd (hence limited slip not locking) on fwd is talking crap from his ***.

Are they expensive to have installed? Or can you install them yourself? That seems like something you would want to have professionally installed.
Also, did anyone read what I said in the second post on this thread?
Trying to get this car quick. Hoping to keep up with my buddies VR6 GTI.

Lol LSD is not going to make your car faster persay.....
If you have to ask if the LSD exists for the car and if it's good for FWD then yes, I would say you want a professional to install it.
My suggestion? H22A w/ M2B4 tranny and go NA.

You don't need new tranny. I had my LSD fitted when the engine is (turbo build) out costed me $340AUD. It's a straight swap with your old open diff, any trustworthy mechanic can do it, I just didn't have the time and skills to do it.
If you buy obx, you be up for inspecting the product when you recieve it (dismantle, deburr few corners, replaces the cup washers, replace few bolts, check run out etc) so much the effort and I bet it costed $400USD from egay.
I know it's not going to make my car FASTER, but it will put equal amounts of power into BOTH wheels, correct?
Was asking what some other things are that I can start buying for my engine to make it faster.
No one knows any "trustworthy" mechanics around the Seattle, Washington area do they? Just bought my Accord for $2,000 and I'm ready to start dropping some money in to it. (not a fartcan)

Hahahaha! I want to drive fast, not kill myself.
That would be fun though. *pushes button* BRAPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP!!! WA! TA! TA! TA! TA! BRAPPPPPPPP! BOOM!

Personally I would say go with an H22 and build for 300 hp NA, there's a thread going in their section with the setups used.

I had an OBX SS header on my car when the company was new and that was a BIG POS. Warped within a year.
Lsd will help torque steer on basically any front wheel drive, but if your not putting it in a race car its a waste of money and can actually make the acceleration feel weaker.
I'm running a Wavetrac LSD on my 98 Accord - works like a dream on my daily driven car. The big benefits are better traction and greater handling. I don't regret mine for a sec. It will make your car faster due to better power distribution to both front wheels.
