ls-v dies out launching
hey there guys, im tuning on chrome , so far i have a gsr basemap, fuel is adjusted to where it needs to be for idle, and for high rev. and timing was advanced a little. timing is more advanced in high range , and launch control is set at 6k.
when i launch it begins to spin slightly , then dies out(power wise) until vtec engages.
now heres a question, if i advance the timing on low range , will it compensate for this problem?
another question , vtec is set 4500rpm , it feels as though it loses power at the beginning of engagement, so does that mean i should raise it to 5k? it was at 5500 but to me it felt a little too high. what is the power range with
b16 cams?
specs:
b18b1 (stock rods, stock pistons)
type r head(b16 cams, type r valvetrain)
gsr transmission

u think that cld be the cause of power loss on launch as well? its weird, its as though it has the power at the beginning , it begins to spin, then it dies out, then when vtec engages its fine again.
sounds like you need a good tune, the ls-v should have more then enough torque to power you foward until vtec kicks in, i know with my gsr i had to set the rev limit @ 5000 so as not to bog out at the track but on the street i would need to set it at 3700 so as not to hit rev limiter to early and gained enough speed to hit second gear in vtec. you might need to tune the low cam WOT a bit. whats you AFR's like when you feel the power loss?

Yeah, I'd agree with a good tune. When breaking in my ls vtec, I noticed how in some rpms the engine ran well and then in others it would bog but then pick up again as the rpm changed to a good place.
How can you possibly know what you're doing without a wideband?
It's not running well because you have no idea what your adjustments are doing.
The loss in power is most likely due to hitting a rich AFR section, but you'll never know where that is until you get a wideband.

Stock p30 maps are better suited if your not using a stock gsr dual runner manifold.
