I've got a b16 motor with ITR internals and springs and retainers (no cams yet) running on a B16b PowerFC.

To me seems like everything in PowerFC is stock. Now the question is:

how can i increase rev? (when i go to Setting-> idle/rev: Rev limit is 0 RPM there and i still can rev 8.8k i assume this is because of the stock map on my B16b PFC) also i see revlimit set to 0 though i can rev upto 7800rpm and when i change this setting to 3000 and go back it again sets itself automatically to 0 (back to the same setting as before). why is this happening????

Same goes for timing, Setting-> timing is all 50 across the board, what does that means? i cant go any lower then stock but i can increase it. what if i have to reduce my timing? how can i do so?

 

Don't mess with the timing at all. This needs to be done by someone who knows more about fuel and ignition timing than you do. In fact, don't mess with anything on the RPMs outside of 8400. you will hurt the engine after that. More RPMs doesn't necessarily mean more power.

Stock map reads based upon B16B and should still show 8400rpms. Take a picture of what you're seeing as right now, it difficult to make sense of

 

That is pretty odd... I remember I tuned a PFC that had similar issues, as if it was bugged and the commander wasn't able to save the changes on some parameters. I didn't look into the issue further because I tuned the car with Datalogit and everything was fine during the tune.


You will need to locate a PFC tuner that has Datalogit who can reprogram your base map settings, and perhaps everything will be fixed. Maybe the data on the PFC is corrupted.

 

Does Power FC have different maps for high and low cam?

I have played with these units on Sr20's but not hondas and there is a local one that i might get because the price is right.

 

for low and High cam lobes yes. They are labeled Vt0 and Vti I believe.

Another random thought.... since PowerFC is obd2A, do i need to be compliant to have it not throw a code?
Thinking: usdm ITR oil pump with sensor vs JDM without? i would assume without since PFC is meant for that market but i have no idea.

 

THe OBD2A is just the Connectors from the harness. It doesn't throw the same codes as though it were an OBD2A ECU for emissions. It doesn't care if oil pump has a pressure sensor or not.

 

I think he meant Crankshaft Fluctuation sensor on the oil pump. Even still, the basemap would contain that info of what is turned on/off for that tune.

Hey Tony, spoke with one of my sources at Apex'i regarding the newer PowerFCs after the AH01 series, that use the older chipset MUST use Datalogit to do the big tunes, but the newer ones after 2006 with the better processor can use the Commander Pro or Datalogit. So if you have clients with the older FC and can't get the Commander Pro to see the box, its because they need to use Datalogit to access the older chipset.
