Default 92 SI H23 heat issue

92si4ws has an h23
Mods: cold air - muffler - stage 1 clutch & light fly - all aluminum rad. with duel high output fans - plugs and wires - nothin more!

Problem: engine compartment temps are ridiculous. I dont think its supposed to get that hot. engine runs cool never overheats.
Also once it warms up under acceleration or a load i get a bad smell of sulfur. what is that?

Was thinking of running testpipe to help it breathe better and putting in a 170 thermostat to bring temps down a bit. also considered wrapping manifold to keep heat down.
Any suggestions?

Put some killer looking hood vents in - like the IROC Z-28 had, or something. Maybe the mods are just blocking air flow through the engine compartment. - or go redneck and leave the hood off ;D

So what are you basing this on? Just that it feels too hot to your hand?

If the car is not overheating I wouldn't worry about it. A test pipe is not a good idea, really. Wrapping your manifold could help if you want to do that.

Why is a test pipe a bad idea? what about putting a low temp thermostat? and yes im basing this on touch and whenever i drive around town or get off the freeway the thing feels sluggish like the intake is getting hot and when intakes get hot the air and fuel gets hot and power goes down. Plus i can feel a lot of heat coming from under the car. But it has never overheated on me.
Another thing is my AC will eventually stop blowing cold air and start getting warm. Had it checked out and my freon is good and fans are working perfect but the guy told me that my condenser is getting too hot. The high side was reading around 190psi and over. i guess hondas are supposed to run around 150 to 160 at most.

The sulphur smell is the catalytic converter. Some have a stronger smell than others. In particular, Nissan uses a really pungent brand. The smell is related to the exact method used to break down the exhaust.

Different companies have various licenses and patents so there is some variation in their function and smell.

no...no bump! Its normal. Or unless you want to take an engine bay temp reading and post it for comparissons . I highly doubt its any hotter than a typical prelude depending on your climate of course. Colour will have an affect. If your car is black you better believe it will be warmer...how much I couldn't even guess. Not enough for you to worry about
