NEED HELP, I'm Blowing oil at idle but as soon as the car goes under load its fine, It doesn't blow
I was told that My oil return line is too long, it kind of goes up from the turbo then back down to the oil pan, its not real long but deff not the shortest it could be. The car has exeptional power and doesn't seem to of lost any power from this, the oil level remains real consistant even though it blows alot of smoke when it does this. Any suggestions or comments would be really apreciated.
your return line should be a straight drain from your turbo to your pan. Its gravity feed, so the oil wont climb up the line and then back down into the pan.

Yes, when my return was not done good it was puffing sometimes a LOT at idle or take off but never any other time.
Sounds like oil is getting backed up into your turbo. Fix it before you blow the oil seals.
It happened to me, oil got backed up but I fixed it up asap and no more smoke.

thanks alot, I gotta just order a shorter peice and hopefully that will take care of it, thanks alot guys I'll let you know how it goes, If anyone knows where I can order that peice let me know
i have a similar problem, except i blow smoke "after" getting off the throttle... i think it may be oil blowing by the turbo seals, but still haven't nailed the culprit...
also, can compressor surge be a cause?

two possible scenarios:
1) oil return line is blocked or kinked. Take it apart make sure that there is no blockage in it. Also when it is in place on the motor, are there any kinks? This can really ruin things, and make oil blow past the seals.
2) Valve seals. If a valve seal is shot, it will let oil drip down the valve and will do this off load.

Also the return line has to be mounted high up on the pan. If mounted too low, almost impossible for it to drain.
hmm, no kinks and no clogs and the return is plenty high... leaning towards valve seals, but it ONLY smokes coming off throttle, off max boost
perfectly clean otherwise when off load
a question, when vtec dis-engages, is there suppose to be a momentary boost in oil pressure... i think this may also be a possible culprit
