hey guys, i got a legal street race on august 9 in my city, and i also want to race, i have 97 EX coupe with D16Y8, the quickest opponents would be 2 CRX ED9 with DOHC non v-tec engine.
So, the question is: is there any quick tips on power gain? please don't tell me about chipping ecu, turbo, compression etc. cause i will not do this, beacuse of can't find chipped ecu and OBD1 jumper in my town my car is bone stock 5 speed, so can a rise a power quickly for an few races?

Intake from autozone would probably be the cheapest and quickest.

 

Your not going to get a huge power gain without internal mods
or boost. But if your just looking for a little more power you
could toss on a header and / or other bolt on stuff. Most of
them are practically "plug n play". Don't expect a drag car
or to break the land speed record.

The reality of bolt-ons is that they make your car more fun
to drive, are fun to put on and better to spend your money on
than Vicodin (sometimes) ..but they don't create huge HP, they
just free up restrictions caused by stock equipment.

^^^ Second that. Nitrous is the quickest and cheapest way to pick up 50-100 HP. And, assuming that you don't blow it up, it's fairly quick and easy to take off later.

I doubt anything else will be enough to beat a dohc crx.

i would say spray and buy a six puck clutch if your lucky you will catch the crxs but cant garentee it if your looking for cheap i have a set of headers and catalytic converter ill sell you cheap im running a LS now so no use for single came parts

 

lol..a six puck clutch? cmon!!! that in no way relates to a quick power gain not to mention the 400 plus part and about 3 hour install time.

nitrous would be the way to go for a quick boost in power. make sure to use it at the end of the race like vin diesel does. (sarcasm)

a good nitrous kit is still gonna run you $400 so it depends on what you call cheap

 

gut the **** out of your car and add nitrous that may help lol

 

gut the **** out of it. its quick, doesnt cost you anything and once its over throw all that **** back in. Gut it and add Nitrous.

 

go to autozone get a intake i would say dont know how much money u have so good luck

 

nitrous is gay IMO, but pretty much your only option.

 

you could steal your parents leaf blower and tape it to your throttle body for an extra 1-2 psi.
