Default Laptop power options?

I just got a new laptop and I wanna get some power to it for in the car. Would you get a cig lighter adapter for ~$70-100 for a power inverter for half that?

Personally, I'd get the power inverter as you can drive more than the laptop.

That is exactly what I was thinking. The only drawback is if I had one I would want it hard wired, so I would loose portability. What do you think would be a good power level to get?

I got a power inverter and if I was to do it over again I would get the power inverter again as I have gotten a differnt laptop since then and wouldn't want to buy another adapter and have also used it to power other stuff. I forget what size mine is I think 400 watts but I'm not positive it was like $30 or $40 from Sams Club but was bigger than most of the $100 ones at other places I could find.

Take a look at what you want to drive. Laptop's don't take a lot of power to run.

You can even get a 1 outlet and take a expander plug and drive 3 laptops. We've done that for long trips before. Can't remember the wattage, but the inverter didn't cost more than $30 bucks.

Yup laptops don't take a lot of power the inverter I have has 2 plugs built in and you can hardwire it to the batter or it has the lighter adapter plug. I paid like $30 or $40 for mine I think.

I think I will get the inverter. Plus with that I can plug in the ps2 and play on the laptop, lol. Any good brands to look for?

Get something that can do 300-500 watts, non-surge. Then you can power one of these http://www.amazon.com/exec/obi...lance for your female passengers. Works with my 300 watt easily. I have a Whistler that I have been using for like five years, and I like it a lot.
