Default srs light

got a 97 hx ive read the manual. when the srs indicator light stays on after the engine is switched on then you need to get your airbags checked. (im assuming this is the one on the dashboard, under the rpm's) there is also a red led light to the left of the stearing wheel. (next to the brighten or darken your dash lights) now this red led stays on all the time. i mean all the time. what is up?

I rear ended a truck, and it came on, didnt deploy, but came on. so i dont know whats up?
