ABS delete on 92 GS-R. Looking for a brake upgrade. Suggestions?
Hey H-T, i posted this under the brakes section but not too many people seem to view that section of the forums, hopefully i can get some help in here .....
So i deleted the ABS on my 92 GS-R. And im looking to do upgrade a little bit now that i dont have ABS. I will be getting hawk pads and powerslot rotors.
I was wondering if i can upgrade my booster and cylinder to a JDM ITR master and booster. Will it work?

That's not necessarily true. ABS does not always equal the shortest braking times. If only one of the rear wheels locks the whole system will pulse which will decrease the braking at the other three wheel. I wired in an ABS kill switch in my 02 Civic Si because that ABS was so damned sensitive it would go off on heavy braking into corners on dry roads.
I respect your opinion but still disagree. Straight line braking isn't the only type of braking a car will do. Like I said if your coming hard into a corner and one of the rear wheels lifts slightly it is likely to lock. On a 92 GS-R this is going to cause ABS activation on all wheels, not just the one that locked. The ABS activation is going to cause reduced pressure to all wheels and reduce the retarding force.

Oops! I've been schooled. Sorry about that. I still disagree with the blanket statement that ABS always results in the shortest stopping distances. Obviously under slippery conditions ABS will always be superior but I still believe that under a lot of conditions shorter stopping distances can be achieved without ABS with a good driver.

What is often ignored is that the good driver can brake the same, whether or not the car has ABS. He only brakes in greater distances (as in, he only takes the ABS "penalty") if he pushes harder on the pedal than threshold braking requires and activates the ABS system. If he doesn't push that hard, he can out brake the ABS, even with it installed on the car. Still under perfect conditions of course.
What this means is that you want both, a good driver who can threshold brake and ABS as a backup.
This ain't the 80s. Trust the mature technology. ABS is a good thing.
Now, I've never been lucky enough to have to make a panic stop under perfect conditions, there's always something that makes me love having my ABS.
I also use it as a learning tool on track. If my ABS kicks in, I'm trying to brake too hard. You can feel it come online.
A good driver can out brake ABS, in perfect conditions, and this has been proven repeatedly.

Ok so i know the ABS delete was a downgrade. Im aiming to get a really clean engine bay, thats why i did it, the car wont be really driven hard.
So let me ask you guys this. In a car without ABS, what would you do to give it a bit of a brake upgrade?
And please dont say add ABS.lol

OEM (or equivalent) rotors, decent pads, and fresh fluid, the tires are the weak link in the chain.
Take the car out on an empty road. Go 65. Hit the brakes, hard. If you can activate the ABS or lock up the tires (for those without ABS), it ain't the brakes holding you back from better braking performance, its the tires.
My Autozone blank rotors, Hawk HPS pads, and fresh high temp fluid setup has done fine for me, with 45 minute lapping sessions in 105* heat, and a 120+ to 90 mph braking zone every 45 seconds or so. Integras came stock with great brakes.
[QUOTE=TunerN00b;39427784]So its a show car, and should be towed to places to display. Your car, do what you want.
not needed at all man i drag my car every now and then still drive it on the street but plan on taking out my abs but i guess its a show car with 450whp ive upgraded to 5 lug on my integra but since its a pain in the *** to do so on da either look into better tires (something not all season ) or buy better calipers/ full brake setup and tires people often over look tires and they are the most important part of the car and the only part that touches the road.

yea. thats what i was thinking. goor rotors and good pads. fresh fluids of course, and for tires, i roll with azenis all around so thats taken care of.
Actually. You have an ABS equiped vehicle, with a 1" master and bigger booster. Non-ABS Integras have the 15/16"
