Do I need to replace the crank/rod bearings with my engine rebuild?
I just got my block back from GE and am in the process of putting it back together. One shop told me to do it, and another said not to. BTW, I checked at an Acura dealership and was quoted $250 on the bearings. That seems increadibly high for a few pieces of metal. Thanks.
Yes you should replace the bearings....it is relativly cheap insurance considering what you spent on the sleeves.
ACL (contact Rocket or Earl) might be a good choice for you a complete set runs around $100
oem Honda bearings (if you want to stick to oem) can be bought from H-T resources as well as http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com or http://www.acuraautomotiveparts.net

Don't be cheap. You'll regret it later...especially after knowing how much money you dumped into that engine to get where you are now. You can run ACL Duraglide bearings in that engine for about half the price of the OEM Honda bearings.

If you're changing rods you'll have to replace the bearings anyways -- and changing the mains is always a good idea when you have the crank out.
ACLs are supposed to be good stuff -- I use OEM, but they have been recently backordered... I wonder if you can get them now
