Is hot weather bad for turbo.
I have a 99 gsr that im planning to turbo but since i live in the desert. Where temp. hits the 120. My question is hot weather mixed with high humidity is that bad for a turbo set-up does that spell disaster.
It depends upon the tune that was given the engine. If EGTs are high, or you're running too hot of a plug, it could be bad for the engine, especially with the increased heat. It may seem as though its awfully hot in that engine bay, but just keep an eye out on your temp gauges and relax a bit.
you wont get away with as much as us that live in cooler areas. you will have to plan accordingly to the high temps. wrap every thing, use a cold plug, run a tad richer under boost ect ect. you should be fine. 99% of driving is out of boost any way.
I'd say you'll be just fine as long as you have a good cooling system, good intercooler, and a good tune. The performance of the turbo itself wouldn't really be effected if that's all your worried about. It's what happens in the motor that you should be more concearned about.
